Gunnison Telephone Company

The Gunnison Telephone Company was organized by interested citizens and businesses in 1909. The company was incorporated February 9, 1909.

The company started with a manual operated switch board and multible party lines. Current news could be had by merely picking up the phone and asking the operator.  In 1949 the company purchased a Kellogg switch to serve 200 multiple access lines.  In 1963 the Kellogg switch was replaced with a Stromberg Carlson switch.  In 1982 the company went digital with a Nortel DMS 10.

Gunnison Telephone currently serves the towns Gunnison, Centerfield, Mayfield, Fayette, and Axtell.  We also serve outlying farm areas of Christenburg, Clarion, and others. We provide telephone service, Internet and DSL to all the areas we serve.
