URTA is a group of independent telephone companies that have joined together to promote common interests and share ideas and knowledge.

URTA members are committed to providing rural Utah with the best telecommunications services available. URTA is an association representing 14 independent telephone companies which serve approximately 80% of the geographical area of the state to over 96,000 residents.

Most independents began as small family or co-operative efforts to link rural farming communities to larger cities. Over the years these companies have progressed and party lines and switchboards have been replaced with digital switches and fiber optic transmission facilities.

Today, people are leaving cities and moving to our rural areas to improve their quality of life. Thanks to our member companies, customers in rural areas can enjoy the same technology and range of services offered in the cities. They are often surprised to find a telephone company that is more personal and responsive than those left behind.

Thanks to the URTA member companies, residents of rural Utah enjoy the latest advances in telecommunications services.
